PUAKO

Enjoy some of the best snorkeling and diving along the coast.

Welcome to Puako / Waialea Bay

What We Love:

Beachfront Cottages, Beach Access, Quiet, Tidepools, Coral Reef, Private.

Puako is a laid-back beach town located just 22 miles north of Kona International Airport. Tucked at the midpoint between the many conveniences and amenities of the Mauna Lani Resort and Mauna Kea Resort, but away from the hustle and bustle of resort life, Puako Beach Drive is a 2-mile stretch of road that's home to roughly 170 properties. Formerly a favorite weekend beach retreat, the Puako-Waialea Bay area is one of the most unique oceanfront enclaves on the Kohala Coast because it's the only beachfront community that isn't part of a resort.

Half of the properties are oceanfront, and the other half sits across the street from the ocean. There are public right-of-ways all along the cul-de-sac that provide easy beach access to all residents.

Puako appeals to those wanting to live in a small, quiet, oceanfront community that's close to the many attractions of the Kohala Coast. Protected by the large coral reef and tide pools for which Puako is known, residents enjoy some of the best snorkeling and diving along the coast.

Due to its limited size and availability, property values remain stable, and Puako real estate opportunities include newer single-family homes, older beach-style cottages, and a very limited number of condominiums and vacant land parcels.
